Meet the Mayhem Makers: Kimberly

Quilting Mayhem is a big place; it’s 17,000 feet of fabric, sewing machines, and inspiration. And there’s a lot of hands behind the scenes making all of it work seamlessly (yes we said seamlessly!). For today’s post, we’re doing something a little different and sharing the people that make Quilting Mayhem the treasure it truly is. Let’s meet the Mayhem makers!

I’m Kimberly, and I work in Fabricland.

Let’s start at the beginning. How did you get started quilting or sewing?

I started sewing when I started at Quilting Mayhem. The other staff are so enthusiastic and inspirational it was impossible not to get sucked into the hobby.

We love getting more people into quilting! And once you start with one project, you get so many ideas for more. What’s your favorite part of the quilting process?

Piecing! It’s so fun to see it all come together!

And then the other side. What is your least favorite part?

Binding

Quilting is full of amazing fabrics and fabric designers. Do you have a favorite designer whose work you just can’t get enough of?

Probably Rae Ritchie

We all have that one trusty tool or notion in our kit that we swear by. Tell us about your can’t-live-without-it notion.

Curved Basting Pins. They make sandwiching a quilt so much easier.

Let’s play a game of would you rather. Ready, set, GO!

Would you rather do a project with applique or foundation paper piecing?

Would you rather bind a king size quilt or square up 500 half square triangles?

Time for the lightning round! You have to make a quilt in a weekend for a baby shower/retirement party/holiday gift that you definitely forgot about! What pattern are you going to pick?

Next time you’re in fabricland, look for Kimberly or any of our other great Mayhem makers to get the best fabric combos and notions in Washington. See you at Quilting Mayhem!
